Day 50

I can't believe it! I'm halfway through the project! 50 days deep! For this reason I'm kind of bummed out that I didn't step it up today with a super fun outfit. Regardless, I have on a purple floral embroidered top from Anthropologie and dark skinny jeans from the Gap. On my feet, I have on metallic flats from Target. Had to do something comfy to start off the work week. I was definitely not ready for the weekend to be over. Happy Monday! Happy 50th Day!

Day 49

After a night out, what could be better than Sunday brunch? And what could be better than a Sunday brunch in Malibu? This morning I woke up to beautiful warm weather, so I finally took out the white shorts (Gap) for the summer. On top I have a flowy, sheer, floral print top from Forever 21. Keeping with the summery theme, I have my metallic sandals and fun aviators (Marc by Marc Jacobs). I've never been a huge aviator person and they definitely took some getting used to, but they are super cute and a new favorite in my repertoire.

Day 48

Out for my friend's 25th birthday, I only have photos at the hot, sweaty venue. Because the party was at a trendy little lounge in WeHo, I decided to do a trendy dress shorts and tights combo (tights: Target, shorts: H & M). On top, I have a grey and white striped ruffle tank from Target. I accessorized with a matching flower from Target. And, though you can't see them, I wore black suede booties also Target. Everything was definitely comfortable and cute, sans the heeled booties on my feet. Target still has some work to do with the comfort of their heels. In the meantime, I'm both waiting and wearing :)

Friday, June 3, 2011

Day 47

I love circle skirts. They can be so cute and fun and not to mention simple with a tucked in shirt. I opted for a black and blue checkered skirt with cute side button closure detail (that you can't see in the picture) from Forever 21 and a simple white t shirt tucked under it. I wore it with some leggings and tall black boots.

Day 46

Olive green can be a risky color at times, but today I went for it in an olive green vest that I found on clearance at Target a while back. I was a little skeptical at first about buying this top, but I have very little self control at Target, and I bought it anyway. To my surprise, I have worn with jeans, skirts, over long sleeved tops and tank tops. Today, I wore over a tank with some dark levis and brown faux snake skin flats. To accessorize a bit, I put on a gold bead ribbon necklace. Olive green can really be a friend.

Day 45

I'm getting closer to my halfway mark. No shopping for 45 days and I'm going strong!

Today I wore a flowy, crocheted neckline, square necked top I got for $5 at an H&M clearance sale a couple years ago. Underneath, I have some skinny jeans from Loft. To keep with the hippie theme, I put on a boho style headband.

Day 44

Today I put on a fun black and white polka dot dress I found at Cotton On. This store has tons of cute and comfy dresses in a variety of fabrics from cotton to silkier threads. Not to mention, very reasonable. Paired with black leggings and a cardigan, I was ready for a day the day back at work.

Monday, May 30, 2011

Day 43

In spirit of Memorial Day, I put on my most patriotic duds for the days festivities. I have on a red and white checkered plaid top with the sleeves rolled up (Forever 21) and denim cuffed shorts (the same pair I put on yesterday, now remixed). Comfy plaid shirts with denim shorts are a simple favorite for lazy days and even holidays. :)

Day 42

Today I had a day of Sunday errands to run so I opted for something casual. I have on denim cuffed shorts from Forever 21 and a simple light grey cotton v neck sweater from Target. The spring weather is starting to warm up, but San Diego can be a little unpredictable so I put on sweater to be safe. But, to keep the outfit spring appropriate I put on some metallic sandals (Target). I can't wait for the spring to really warm up!

Day 41

Sheer dresses are always a little hard to wear because they require extra layers, but they are tons of fun. Today I wore a sheer print dress from H&M. Underneath I wore a black tank and a black cotton mini with black leggings. Looking back on it, the dress would also be cute with a belt at the waist and with boots. Well, another day, another outfit.

Friday, May 27, 2011

Day 40

Fun cardigans are one of my favorite things for Spring. I love cardigans in general, but light cardigans with fun material or design I love love love for Spring. Today I wore a cardigan with almost an eyelet design in a light blue/ gray color (Forever 21) over a white v neck tee. I accessorized with a black cameo necklace from Target. It's one of the coolest finds I have found in the Target accessory section. Happy Friday

Day 39

Today I was definitely feeling back in the swing of things and I actually felt like getting dressed today! I wore a sheer dress from Urban Outfitters (clearance rack a few years back), black tank underneath and black fitted skirt underneath (American Apparel). On top I have a long beige cardigan from Target with brown boots (also Target) to tie it all together. Long cardigans from Target can be such a great basic. They are long enough for a dress or tunic and they surprisingly hold up well after washes! Wardrobe must!

xoxo B

Day 38

Long time no blog. Due to an unforeseen bout with the stomach flu, here I am six pounds lighter and four days later. Though I could have posted photos of my pajama collection, I thought putting my days on hold would be more appropriate and a little more flattering. As you can imagine I have been a hot mess the past few days.

And so we left off at Day 38... Today I'm wearing a loose fitting gray with silver striped top from Forever 21 with black skinny jeans from Loft. I accessorized with a pearl- black ribbon necklace from clearance jewelry gold mine, World Market! It was a versatile outfit, as I wore it to work and for a friend's birthday dinner (with t strap wedges) after. Good day to night outfit for sure!

xoxo B

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Day 37

Sometimes the cutest things come in... the wrong packages. Today I wore a black and white patterned tunic that turns out to be a swim cover up I found on the clearance rack at Target. Initially I saw it in the 75% off clearance section and thought the tunic/ dress was a bargain at 6.08. When the cashier rung it up at the register, the item description said "cover up." Either way, it is now officially a part of my wardrobe. I definitely could have jazzed up the outfit with some brightly colored jewelry, but was totally not in the mood this morning to think. Sigh. Another day, another outfit.

xoxo B

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Day 36

One of the joys of being a teacher is being able to wear my favorite hello kitty t shirt and getting compliments from all of my students! Today I put on my vintage style hello kitty t shirt that I found a while back at H & M. I paired this with distressed Levis. As for the kicks, I kept it playful with zebra print flats from Rocket Dog. Definitely earned some playground cred. today!

xoxo B

Day 35

Today I wore a white drop waist tunic (from H&M) with black leggings, up to the knee boots (Zappos shoe outlet) and long black cardigan (from Loft). To accessorize with the black and white combo, I wore a gold necklace with a orange ribbon tie. It was a unique find from the clearance section of World Market. Sometimes it can be really fun to accessorize simple black and white combos, especially with pops of colors! What can be more perfect for Spring!

xoxo B

Monday, May 16, 2011

Day 34

Sheer floral has always been my favorite! The sheer fabric can make any floral print look cute and just a bit dressy. It's also a huge look for fall, especially in neutrals. Today I went with a flowy dark blue and purple sheer top (from Nordstrom) and black skinny jeans (from Loft). I accessorized with a pewter colored knot necklace.

xoxo B

Day 33

Sometimes Sunday can be my favorite day of the week. For the obvious reason: a day off. For the less obvious reason: a day dress as casual as you want. Today I went for a super comfy plaid flannel shirt from Target. These shirts got super huge this past fall and they were everywhere for cheap! To add a little dress to this dress down, I put some boots over my Target skinny jeans. Cheers to a casual Sunday!

Sunday, May 15, 2011

Day 32

Today I had tons of errands to run and friends to meet after so I wore something that would serve two purposes. I wore a colorful plaid skirt ($5 at Nordstrom Rack) with a black tank and cardigan. To accessorize a little, I put on a yellow ribbon belt. Happy Saturday!

xoxo B

Friday, May 13, 2011

Day 31

Talk about a blast from the past! Today I wore a floral print shirt from American Eagle (circa 2004) and a full denim, circle skirt. They were definitely sandwiched between other items in my closet, where clothes often become victims of time. Finding these pieces helped to renew my motivation for this hundred day project. Clothes can constantly be renewed and redesigned

xoxo B

Day 30

Sometimes all you need is a good scarf to keep an outfit from being too plain. Today, I wore a flowy sweater top from Forever 21 with medium wash jeans and up to the knee boots from the Zappos shoe outlet (yes it exists, but in Kentucky). I accessorized with a paisley printed scarf. This added some color and a fun print, which contrasted with the plain darker colors I was wearing. You always have to have a stash of printed scarves to save your day!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Day 29

I think I was meant to be a teacher. Why? Well, I really love to dress like one. It's my in my nature. I can't leave the house without a cardigan. I love flowers and apples, both in print and in plant. And my favorite outfit is a comfy dress + sweater combo. Today my class took class pictures and I played the part as teacher. I wore this simple floral print dress with small ruffle detail in the front (from Target). On top I have an even simpler gray cardigan (from H&M) and black tights under it all. A+ for effort?

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Day 28

There's nothing like a cute tunic to brighten up your day! Today I wore a 3/4 sleeve tunic with floral and paisley print from H & M. It was a clearance find for $5. On the hanger, it looks hideous, but paired with boots and leggings it doesn't look half bad. It would also look good belted to add some shape. Some times you really need to take risks and try things on. You never know... even the strangest things can be a good addition to your wardrobe!

XoXo B

Monday, May 9, 2011

Day 27

Today I went nautical with a little boho touch. I wore a gray striped pocket tee (from Target) with a navy ruffled cardigan (from Loft). I'm a huge fan of tasteful ruffles. It adds femininity to tailored styles, menswear and casual outfits. I love them! On top, I wore a gray boho headband with metal detailing. This was a surprising clearance find from World Market. World Market is the place for unique accessories. When in need of statement pieces, you have to check out World Market, you will not be disappointed!

xoxo B

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Day 26

Today I was inspired by the menswear trend. I wore a white poplin tunic from H&M, which was a feminine take on a classic man's white dress shirt. To add a more feminine touch, I accessorized with a yellow scarf (tied like a tie) from Target. Underneath, I wore leggings and up to the knee boots. I decided to go with boots because of today's gloomy weather, but this outfit would be super cute with flat or heeled oxfords, It would totally play up the menswear theme that I just love, love, love!

xoxo B

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Day 25

Saturdays are usually really busy with errands, lunch dates, dinner dates and going out for the night. That's why its important to be versatile with my clothes. Today I had a Mother's Day lunch, a 4 year old birthday party, and a co-workers housewarming party to go to. This meant I had to choose an outfit that would be good for every activity. I chose a Le Tigre mini with small lollipop print with black tights, a simple black tank and a kelly green cardigan on top. It was both comfortable and appropriate for my busy day.

xoxo B

Friday, May 6, 2011

Day 24

Happy Friday! Today I wore a plaid trapeze top with black skinny jeans. I know a lot of people aren't huge fans of trapeze tops because they can make you look pregnant when you're not. This may be the case, but I love a cute trapeze top paired with skinny jeans. The skinnys kind of balance out the volume of the swingy trapeze to make a cute, casual look. Perfect for a Friday!

xoxo B

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Day 23

Today I was inspired by the neutrals trend. I wore light khaki shorts from Target and a mauve/ taupe colored top from H&M. To keep with the light trend, I went with a white Marc watch and tan shoes. I was really surprised how the colors of the outfit worked so well. The colors were so spring! This trend is definitely a keeper!

xoxo B

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Day 22

Sometimes you can find the best things when you're in the mood to look. Today I wore a dress that I found hidden in a sale rack in Anthropologie. It was actually part of their intimates section super marked down for $29 (this is super cheap for Anthro... steal!) It's decorated asymmetrically (with chiffon ruffles on one shoulder and side of the dress) which gives it a unique touch. This is one of the greatest reasons why people love Anthro... it's classy, unique and super cute! I guess it was meant to be a nightgown, but it has worked for me as a causal (and comfy) dress. In the end, I've found that you can really benefit from looking past the what is and instead look to the what could be when it comes to your wardrobe.

xoxo B

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Day 21

Classic white and navy blue make a very clean combination. Today I wore a pleated navy circle skirt from H & M and a crochet tank top from Loft. To jazz up the basics I wore, I put on a slightly metallic gray flower clip in my hair. Because the flower clip was pretty large, I left out accessories. As they say, less is more. This lets the flower clip speak for itself, adding a fun spring time feel to the outfit.

Random tip about hair clips. I love putting flower clips in the hair, but often times they slip out of place in my hair. One way to remedy this is wearing a headband and clipping the clip to the headband. This will ensure less movement and your clips will stay where you want them all day or night!

xoxo B

Monday, May 2, 2011

Day 20

I'm 1/5 of the way done! 80 more days left and I haven't repeated anything yet. But, I have a feeling that it's only going to get harder. I'm definitely getting the itch to buy some summer dresses especially in this hot weather. :(

Today I went for a simple look. I wore an a-line printed skirt (Nordstrom Rack) with a tucked in white tank. For the mildly chilly morning, I layered with brown cardigan from American Eagle Outfitters. On my feet are some burlap Rocket Dog flats, keeping the outfit very casual. On super hot days it's better to keep things simple and comfortable. There's nothing worse than fussing with your clothes in the miserable heat. It can seriously ruin your day.

xoxo B

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Day 19

It was the perfect day to be in the sun! Headed out for a county street fair, I have on a knee-length tie- dye skirt from Target, a simple racerback tank also from Target, and some metallic snakeskin print t-strap sandals from... Target. To accessorize, I put on a purple woven boho head wrap. My mom found it at another street fair so it seemed appropriate to wear today. Normally when I wear head wraps, I opt for the skinny strands. Recently, I've been really admiring the bold thicker head wraps. They add a cute spring/ summer vibe, especially in statement colors.

xoxo B

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Day 18

Today was one of the first super sunny days we've had all spring. 80 degree weather definitely means the revival of summer dresses. This season maxi dresses and skirts are all the rage. I've been a little slow going on this trend because it is very hard to find maxi dresses that fit short people. Usually they are much too long and totally unflattering. After a lot of searching and reading reviews, I found this coral striped maxi dress in the BP section of Nordstrom. I saw a similar version made by Ella Moss in the Point of View section for a lot more change. The quality was better, but for a dress I will probably only wear in the summer, I am fine with the imitation. During the day I wore the dress very simplified with flat sandals. For night, I put on a floral print scarf and a long cardigan. Surprisingly it transitioned well for a night out. I would have posted a pic, but it was a rough night and by the end of it, I was not in the state to be pictured. So you'll have to use your imagination on this one. :)

Friday, April 29, 2011

Day 17

Today was pajama day at work and I definitely took advantage of it. I wore my hello kitty crewneck and some black stretch pants with my zebra print flats. It's amazing that now we can find cute hello kitty clothes at Forever 21 and H & M. It seemed that HK kind of went under the radar for a while and now she's making a comeback. My love for HK spawned from when I was a little girl when I used to collect Sanrio pencils, tiny notebooks, those super cute plastic lock box pencil cases and that amazing flavored gum! I had it all! In fact my first job EVER was at the Sanrio store at Del Amo Mall. Hello Kitty is so simple and classic. That's why she's lasted for 50 years. She's timeless and she'll always be on my list of all things cute.

xoxo B

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Day 16

Today was a bright morning and so were my clothes. I went with a bright kelly green cardigan from H&M and a printed cinch waist tank from Old Navy (clearance rack $.99!). My shoes were magenta flower flats from the Target shoe clearance rack. To tone down the brights I went with dark skinny denim on the bottom.

Every fashion magazine is talking about bright colors being the new trend. This includes hot pinks, neon oranges and shocking yellows. I say this is the perfect time to wear them! Spring is the season to be experimental and to get away with these daring colors! We'll see if I can dig in my closet for some neon next time.

xoxo B

Day 15

Spring has finally sprung in San Diego! This means that the tights and leggings can start coming off. Today I was able to wear a knee-length black skirt from Anthropologie and a long ombre tunic tank (tucked in) from Target. To accessorize I have a pewter gray knot necklace, also from Target. On my feet I have zebra burlap sneakers by Rocket Dog (thanks to one of my student's parents who works for the company).

I can't wait for more sun! :)

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Day 14

Flowy floral is the way to go. It is fun for spring and it comfortable and easy to wear. I have on a floral racerback tank from the BP section of Nordstrom. I also have on dark denim by Gold Sign. These jeans were awesomely cheap at Loehmanns (clearance rack). My blue loafers were a great find from the Target shoe clearance rack. I always check the Target clearance racks whenever I shop. I have found so many cute things marked down WAY cheap. One thing you need to remember when you rummage through the racks is to keep an open mind. Lots of clothes I find on clearance don't look conventionally cute, but when you pair them with a belt or other accessories, they can make your outfit. One time I bought a Maternity top, totally unaware, and it turned out to look super cute with a belt, shorts and tights. Sometimes you just gotta take the gamble.

xoxo B

Monday, April 25, 2011

Day 13

Happy Monday! It's always fun to brighten up a dull Monday morning with color and print. I pulled out a mustard pocketed circle skirt (Forever 21) from the back of my closet and paired it with a simple white t shirt from H&M (their basics are amazing and cheap!) To add some print, I accessorized with a skinny scarf from Target. I've been experimenting a little with my scarf tying. This is a simple bow tie, but I think it adds a cute girlie detail to the outfit. Scarves.net has a bunch of fun scarf tying ideas. I figure if I can't shop, might as well get creative with what I have. :)

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Day 12

Polka Dots have been my best friend this weekend. Yesterday was the polka dot mini and today is the pastel polka dot top. I got this top from the sale rack at Urban Outfitters a year ago. It's got a super cute ruffle detail (that makes it really hard to iron) that adds an extra feminine touch. To let the top speak for itself I put on some dark wash denim and simple black flats.

The outfit was perfect for stuffing myself with Easter brunch! Lots of give and coverage! :)

XoXo B

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Day 11

Traveling can be a little unpredictable so I say dress in layers. Today I am driving to my parent's house for Easter so I opted for dressing in pieces and comfort. I have an old polka dot mini from Forever 21 and an eyelet topped shirt from JCP baby! Underneath I have long black leggings and my favorite Tory Burch flats.

Though I did not put on any Easter pastels, I thought the polka dots would add some fun festiveness. Though, after wearing the mini for the entire day, I realized this was not somethingI could ever wear without leggings, especially on Easter. I hope to God I never have before. But no worries, I kept it classy with the leggings all day. :)

Day 10

Ever have one of those days where you don't feel like getting dressed? I definitely had one of those days. This morning I totally felt like wearing something comfy, but not frumpy. I opted for some dark wash Levis and a super-soft racer back tank with vintage flower print. To add some color I put on some magenta ruffle flats from Target.

This casual day outfit can totally be dressed up for night with a sequined cardigan and patent heels. Or imagine it sans the jeans and instead with a skirt, tights and heels. Now if I have enough energy after the long work week to transition to night is a different story.

XoXo B

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Day 9

Today I definitely pulled out some pieces from the back of the closet. This striped skirt still had the tag on it (Target clearance $3.08). The short-sleeved brown sweater was something I wore religiously back in my sophomore year of college!
At first I had a little issues making the skirt look right. At one point I almost gave up, justifying its spot on the clearance rack. After changing into a few different tops, I realized that sometimes less is more so I opted for a simple white tank with a solid cardi on top. Then I accessorized with a belt (same one I wore yesterday) and this helped everything come together. To make it appropriate for work, I went with long black leggings underneath.

I'm really starting to realize how many things I've been overlooking in my closet. I'm glad that today I was able to dive into some old findings!

XoXo B

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Day 8

Levis are a girl's best friend. Today I'm wearing my mid-rise skinny Levis with a rustic style belt and some red flats from Target. I love these jeans! You can wear them tucked in with a crocheted sweater (as shown) or untucked with a flowy floral top or go casual with a cute flannel shirt. No matter what the style, these Levis will satisfy. Another reason why I love them is that the petite length actually fits my legs! No hemming for this girl. But this only applies to Levis from the Levis store. Don't trust the Levis from Khols. For the most part, I don't trust Khols period. Not worth it.

xoxo B

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

Day 7

Did I ever mention how amazing Target can be? If you look through my closet, you will find that Target can be an amazing asset to your wardrobe! They have so many cute dresses that are usually under $25! Not to mention their array of basics that a girl just can't live without (i.e. a good long legging, tights, boyfriend t shirts, and tanks). The only problem about Target is that you can not leave the store without buying something you don't need. I find that I have a weekly trip to Target for something, but always end up leaving with a new dress, shirt, belt, scarf or hat. For this reason, I will be avoiding Target as much as possible. :)

Today was my homage to all things Target. I have on a floral print dress with a draw- string waist in cream with yellow flowers. Underneath I have classic $5 leggings and riding style boots with exposed back zipper. All from Target. God's gift to man.

xoxo B

Monday, April 18, 2011

Day 6

Happy Monday! I was in a very laid back mood this morning and decided to put on some distressed Levis and a floral peasant top from H&M. To add a little fun, I wore my yellow Calvin Klein flats that I found at Lohemann's a few years ago. The outfit would have been cute with some brown loafers or oxfords too or even some woven sandals. The possibilities are endless!

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Day Five

Nautical has been one of my favorite things in life. It's totally timeless and it doesn't get better than that. Well, it totally does because Tory Burch made the cutest espadrilles... in nautical print! I have this favorite spring shoe paired with a navy sun dress from forever 21. This was perfect to run Sunday errands in (none of which included shopping of course) :(

Day Four

It is officially the weekend and all I want to do is assume my weekend ritual shopping trip. It just dawned on me. It is going to be a long 100 days.

To take my mind of of the shopping withdrawals, I decided to enjoy the sunny day by dressing the part. I have on a floral drop waist dress from Target. I also have on Metallic Snakeskin sandals from Target and a straw hat from Forever 21. And of course a cross- body bag by marc by marc jacobs. Cross- body bags are the best for day trips. You never have to worry about your bag. Ever.

Friday, April 15, 2011

Day Three

In my morning scramble, I found two old pieces and created something new. The pastel colored plaid shirt is h&m from um... 3 years ago and the skirt is Forever 21 from um... 3 years ago as well. I guess sometimes it is wise to keep things you don't wear very often. The belt is also from a while back from Salvation Army. It's definitely a thrift store find that has lasted. Underneath it all is my favorite black tights.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Day Two

Today I went with a simple cotton dress from American Apparel. This dress can be seriously dressed up or down with a sequined cardigan or an oversize cotton sweater with sneakers, respectively. A very versatile piece for sure. I chose to wear it with tiered, floral printed open cardigan from Urban Outfitters sale rack ($5!). To add some shape, I accessorized with a zebra print belt. Underneath it all, I went for long leggings, making it appropriate for work.

Mixing prints can sometimes be scary, but lots of prints like florals and animal print can exist in perfect harmony! Try it!

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Day One

I have nothing to wear.

This is a feeling I have more often then I should. And it's a problem that no amount of shopping can cure. The behemoth called my closet will stand as proof. But, herein lies the idea behind my project. With a closet full of clothes, how is it that without fail, I feel like I have nothing to wear on a day-to-day basis?

It seems as if I am caught in a cycle of shopping for what I don't have before I look to what I do have. Basically, I tend to get bored of my clothes and shop for the new before looking at the right now.

So here is my temporary solution. For 100 days, I will attempt to create 100 outfits by shopping from my own closet. I will create, combine and accessorize with what I have to make 100 days of new. It will challenge me to mix and match pieces I have to take on new life. Don't underestimate of the power of a different cardigan and shoes. It will change your life. Well, at least your outfit.

Day One

Initially, I was very skeptical about colored pants, but I decided to try the trend with some "dusty rose" colored pants from Loft. I paired it with another trend I have been skeptical about, but have recently embraced, animal print. Might as well go all out, right? I also accessorized with a pink and gold ribbon style necklace. Comfy and casual for a day at work. However, the pants and the sweater can be totally dressed up for night or worn separately with other pieces to make a completely different look. Keep your eyes peeled for the return of these pieces mixed and matched
